Welcome to CIES 2015

Dear Colleagues

Dear colleagues: Warm greetings! It is with great enthusiasm that I welcome you to the 2015 Annual Conference of the Comparative and International Education Society.

This year’s theme, “Ubuntu! Imagining a Humanist Education Globally” has been generating considerable excitement. It will offer the space for deliberation of cutting-edge research addressing theoretical, empirical, and practical questions in imagining a transformative Ubuntu-inspired education that is empowering for all humanity.

The conference will be held in Washington, D.C., a foremost international destination, given its status as the U.S. capital. With its centrally located airports that are gateways to different parts of the world, the city is home to several universities, education related organizations, over 170 foreign embassies, the world famous Library of Congress, Capitol Hill, Smithsonian museums and monuments that can all be accessed free.

The Hilton Hotel at 1919 Connecticut Avenue is located within walking distance to major tourist attractions and monuments. This year’s program will include exciting keynote addresses, plenary sessions with world-renowned and emerging scholars and practitioners and a range of events that will engage all of our membership.

See you in D.C.!
